Christmas should be a happy and joyous time, but for many it can be financially challenging and often isolating. The holiday period can become expensive and with all of the extra costs building up, and buying food for your family or paying your rent can start to feel overwhelming.
You don’t have to go it alone. Here are some places to go for assistance this Christmas.
Do you need urgent help? Phone 000.
Every year the Salvo’s assist individuals and families across Australia by providing grocery hampers and gifts for those in our communities who simply need a helping hand during Christmas. The Salvation Army can also assist those needing domestic or family violence support, or those experiencing homelessness.
To access these services, contact your local Salvation Army branch. Phone Salvos on 1300 341 288 or click here to view all of the Salvo’s locations.
Trained Telephone Crisis Supporters are available to speak to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you are feeling lonely or isolated, are feeling suicidal, are experiencing other personal or mental health problems, or simply need someone to talk to about how you are feeling, call Lifeline today.
Phone Lifeline on 131 114.
