MEET OUR COUNSELLORS

Esther Kleiner

Accredited Mental Health Social Worker

Esther is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with over 10 years’ counselling experience in various public and private health settings. She has worked in inpatient mental health wards, alcohol and other drug rehabilitation centres, community centres and private practice.

Esther has advanced skills in Motivational Interviewing (MI) and trains other practitioners in this therapeutic approach. She also practises Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Single Session Family Therapy, trauma work, and uses a person-centred approach in her therapy. Esther works with clients with a myriad of presenting problems including depression, anxiety, substance use, grief and loss, trauma, psychological impacts of cancer and other life-threatening conditions, and perinatal and postnatal depression.

Esther is able to service clients with Mental Health Treatment Plans and NDIS plans.

Florence Poni

Accredited Mental Health Social Worker

Florence is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker who has provided counselling and support in a variety of clinical settings in both metropolitan and regional Australia.

Florence works with individuals, couples, and families. She is a Family Violence specialist and has worked in the field of alcohol and other addictions. Florence specialises in couples therapy, family violence, grief and loss, low self-esteem/confidence, identity crisis issues, anxiety, stress, depression, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder (BPD). She has worked with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, culturally and linguistically diverse clients, and clients from the LGBTQI community.

Florence has trained in Narrative therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotional Freedom Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing, Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solutions Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Single Session Therapy, and Gottman’s Couples Therapy.  Florence tailors her therapeutic approach based on her client’s needs and preferences.

Florence is able to service clients with Mental Health Treatment Plans and NDIS plans.

Dr Judy Betts

Counsellor

Judy is an accredited clinical counsellor with over twenty years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families.

Judy works with a myriad of presentations including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, addictions, family violence, personality disorders, and crisis intervention. She has worked with clients from a range of different backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, refugees, and clients from the LGBTQI community.

Judy has attained a Doctorate of Counselling and has completed extensive postgraduate training in Crisis and Trauma Counselling, Trauma Informed Therapy, Grief and Loss Therapy, Developmental Counselling, Addictions Therapy, Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Strengths-Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Narrative Therapy, Gottman’s Couples Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Judy is able to service clients with NDIS plans.

Rochelle Marshall

Social Worker

Rochelle is a Social Worker with counselling and case management experience. She has worked in various disability sectors and in school settings.

Rochelle has trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, Empowerment Therapy, Schema Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

Rochelle works with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship and family difficulties, low self-esteem, gender and sexual identity issues, and substance use. She has a special interest in working with people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and people in the LGBTQI community.

Rochelle is able to service clients with NDIS plans.

MEET OUR LIFE SKILLS COORDINATORS

Amanda Raxworthy

Social Worker

Amanda studied to become a Social Worker in her home country of Sweden. She has experience supporting vulnerable clients to access mental health services, alcohol & drug treatment, stable housing, legal services, and financial assistance.

Amanda uses a person-centred approach and has trained in Motivational Interviewing and Social Skills Training.

Amanda assists Jobseekers based in the ACT and southern NSW.

Dimi Borg

Counsellor

Dimi is a qualified counsellor with extensive experience within multiple industries including NDIS, AOD, youth work, justice, social work, and education.

Dimi uses strengths-based, solutions-focused, and existential approaches in her work with clients. She has trained in art therapy and loves incorporating this in her therapeutic work.

Dimi assists our Jobseekers based in Geelong and the Bellarine.

Jaqui Clarke

Social Worker

Jaqui is a Social Worker with experience in various mental health sectors. Prior to joining Sureway, she worked for South West Healthcare and Mind Australia.

Jaqui uses a strengths-based approach in her work with clients.

Before attaining her Masters in Social Work, Jaqui completed a Bachelor of Education (Primary). She decided to switch to social work after realising that she preferred to work with people on a one-to-one basis.

Jaqui supports our Jobseekers based across South-West Victoria including Warrnambool, Portland and Colac.

Karen Mbiriri

Social Worker

Karen completed her Bachelor of Social Work at Nelson Mandela University in South Africa. This was followed by a Masters of Social Work that she attained from Monash University in Melbourne.  Prior to Sureway, Karen worked in child protection services with the Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs in Queensland.

Karen uses a strengths-based and solutions focused approach in her work with clients. She has a special interest in working with young people and clients from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Karen supports our Jobseekers in the Riverina and Snowy Valleys including Tumut, Wagga, Griffith and surrounds.

Sharon Murphy

Social Worker

Sharon is a Social Worker who has worked in both the private and public sector including Services Australia and Centrelink. She understands the unique challenges that Jobseekers face and uses this to help our Participants overcome their barriers to paid employment.

Sharon has a special interest in mental health and has trained in Anti-Oppressive Practice which aims to empower individuals and work in partnership with them when formulating solution options.

Sharon assists our Jobseekers based in the Ballarat area.
