Work Assist

Work Assist helps employed people suffering from an illness, injury or disability be empowered to keep their job. Disability Employment Services (DES) provides the solution for these unfortunate work interruptions. Sureway can assist you to positively get your employment back on track.
By registering with the Disability Employment Services, this free service can assist you in three ways:
  • Implement changes in the current job structure
  • Vary your workplace so you can continue to work
  • Provide specialised equipment to help you perform your job

Are you eligible for Work Assist?

To be eligible for Work Assist, the employee must:
  • Have been employed for the last 13 weeks and have averaged a minimum of 8 hours a week (not including reduced hours due to the impact of injury, disability or a health condition which puts you at risk of losing your job in the near future)
  • Currently have an illness, injury or disability which puts you at risk of losing your job (the condition doesn’t have to be permanent)
  • Have not been receiving assistance from a Disability Employment Services provider
  • Be aged at least 14 years of age but have not attained Age Pension qualifying age
  • Be an Australian resident or a Temporary Protection Visa (TPV)/Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) holder.
  • Not be studying full-time
  • Not be receiving assistance from another employment services provider

  • Assist you to be ready to work 
  • Search for jobs that fit you  
  • Provide skills training for specific jobs 
  • Help you write your resume  
  • Prepare you for an interview
